Chapter 6

Chapter 6 :

27 July, Sunday, 2025

10:45 a.m.

Anvaya's POV

"I'll be leaving by 11," I muttered, folding my white coat and kept the stethoscope on it, placed on my study table.

"It's a fucking holiday, man," came Nitya's annoyed voice from the back, while she walked back and forth behind me in my room, annoyed at the fact that I'd be out for work on a holiday.

We were supposed to go out for a girl's day out today but the medical check-up was supposed to be carried out today, since it's 27th today.

I sighed, "I'd have declined it, had it been in my hands. But you know the hospital authority right?"

"Fucking ass," she muttered under her breaths, making me chuckle.

Mr Oberoi had really got involved with my personal life one month ago as if he wasn't willing to go away anytime soon. And till today, he's been a bother to me.

Yes, I wasn't bothered the whole month after that day, when I received his parcel. There was no hindrance from his side and I was really relieved about that.

The advanced payment was made, and the salary will be given by 30th of every month.

"When will you be back?" Mridakshi asked from the back, entering the room before handing me my water bottle.

Taking it from her hand, I put it inside my bag and picked up my phone before replying, "I don't know how far his house his. His driver will pick me up and drop me. If possible, I might be back by 3 in the afternoon."

A notification from Mr Oberoi's driver popped up.

Tony Wizards

I'm waiting for you outside, Ms Shaurya.

"His driver is outside. I'll go now," I said, and as I looked up at both Mimi and Nitya's face, a chuckle left my lips.

Both looked at me in annoyance.

Anyone would be because we got time after so long to have our day today and this Mr Hindrance had to pop up in my life.

Unwanted people in the unwanted time.

"Kill him by giving him digoxin. Just increase the dose and he's finished," Nitya said, coming closer to me while forwarding a blister pack of digoxin.

I looked at her in disbelief, "You keep these with you to kill someone for real?" I asked in disbelief, looking at her with my narrowed eyes.

She rolled her eyes, "Duh! I'm a doctor so of course I have them for medical purpose."

Nodding at her, I replied, "Stop the drama. I'll try to be back soon."

"Are you sure you'll be okay with him? You said how egoistic he is so I already feel irritated about it," Mimi said, glaring somewhere.

I chuckled, "It's fine. I have to do it anyways and I'm getting paid so it's fine. I'll be late, see you both in the afternoon."

"Text me when you're done," Mimi yelled as I made my way towards the front room.

"Yeah."

The car ride started as soon as I settled inside the black Bentley Flying Spur. The car was quite beautiful from both outside and inside. There was even a fresh and manly fragrance inside the car.

I kept looking outside through the black tinted closed window, because it was ordered not to open the windows, I don't know why.

Just as I was about to take out my phone, the bodyguard sitting on the passenger seat forwarded a black clasp envelope, towards the backside where I was seated.

"This has been given by the master, to you, ma'am," he said monotonously, as I took the envelope.

Opening the clasp, I slid out the white paper inside.

Keeping the envelope on the seat, I started reading the content.

There wasn't anything much except for a NOC part at the top of the paper and some points below. My gaze was running over the paper leisurely, when it fell on the slot provided below for my signature.

Then I started reading the rules printed on it-

1. No disobedience by Party B, otherwise necessary actions will be taken.

2. No questioning back to Party A, as a measure to respect privacy.

3. Party B is to initiate the check-up only upon direct instruction from Party A, regardless of prior scheduling.

4. Party B shall not make unsolicited comments or observations pertaining to Party A's appearance, demeanor, or condition.

5. No gloves unless approved by Party A.

6. Party B shall report every detail of Party A's condition. No lies involved . Not to Party A, not to Party B, themself.

7. No physical contact until approved by Party A.

8. Party A is under no obligation to explain, elaborate, or justify personal health details. Party B shall operate under this understanding at all times.

9. Documentation of any kind-written, recorded, or otherwise-is forbidden unless express consent is granted by Party A.

10. Party B shall not refer to or disclose the nature of the session to any third party, regardless of relationship, context, or intent.

The rules read normal, except for rule 5, 7 and 10.

Why'd I be prevented from wearing gloves and what's with the physical contact thing? Moreover, why can't I talk about all these to anyone else?

This company and their CEO was really weirdly strange. They'd be acting all normal and suddenly, their behaviour would have some unexplainable twists. Nyx Solutions was a famous company, with approaches from many famous celebrities and elite people.

But this company had a really weird ruler.

These rules seemed really pointless to me, because the other ones were professional and all. But these?

I heaved out a heavy breath, before signing the paper and handed it back to the bodyguard.

Soon the car picked up speed and the windows slowly darkened to matte black the moment the car exited my neighborhood. I looked around me to find the windows on my either side all black. The lights above me turned on, and a cherry red silk curtain divided the driver's part and the backside where I was seated.

My heart shook in anticipation, due to the sudden unexplained move.

"Uh, excuse me, can you tell me why the windows are black and the curtain is here?" I asked the bodyguard, from my seat.

I was slightly scared because the space felt slightly suffocating for me. The sudden change without anyone familiar by my side, wasn't so comfortable.

"It's for privacy reasons," was all he answered before the car was drowned in silence again.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down. But seeing no use in breathing deep, I decided to listen to some music when the bodyguard again spoke up, "Please turn off your phone, ma'am."

I frowned, "Why?"

"We've been ordered to tell you this. Not explain the reason, I apologise"

I sighed heavily.

I just saw the check-up session but things were taking a different turn.

Those clothes I was given, the rules and regulations and now this car with all black windows, a curtain and my phone switched off. It was like I was locked in some prison.

Even a prison had more space than the space I was locked in and even the freedom to use cellphones are there in prisons.

What have I gotten myself into?

I wasn't at all aware about all these, had I been, I'd have denied the check-up right away.

Sighing, I threw my phone inside my bag and decided to stay seated like that till we reached.

For half an hour or something, the car wheeled on the road, before I finally felt it slowing down and halting.

Finally we are here.

I took a deep breath, before taking my bag as the door opened and I stepped down.

The moment I was on the ground, I looked up at the mansion in front of me.

The mansion stood in quiet authority, like it knew it wasn't meant to be found easily. Tucked deep between towering trees and the hush of a hidden forest, it didn't scream for attention-but it had a presence that can make you stop and stare anyway. Smooth, dark stone walls kissed with glass panels reflected slivers of the sky, almost like it refused to show its full self unless you earned it.

It wasn't loud in its beauty. It was deliberate.

The gardens around it were wild but not messy. Bright, striking flowers bloomed in colors that shouldn't have looked good together but somehow did-orchids, night-blooming jasmine, dark roses. Everything about the place whispered restraint, like even the petals had been told not to bloom too loud. There was a sharp elegance in the way vines curled along the edges of the back walls, like they'd been allowed to exist, but only where they were meant to.

I could hear the forest breathing around it-wind brushing through branches, soft cracks from the earth-but inside those tall, black iron gates, it felt different. Still. Too still.

I was escorted inside by a maid dressed in a black bodycon and maroon apron around her waist. Her face was stoic, and her movements calculated.

The mansion looked modern from inside too. Polished. Sharp corners, long corridors, dark wood floors that held silence like a secret. But it wasn't cold. It was just...guarded. As if the house itself didn't open up easily. As if the place had rules.

It didn't welcome you. It watched you.

And maybe that's what made it so beautiful-it didn't try to charm you. It existed for itself. Like the man who lived inside.

I was asked to sit in a private meeting room, on the first floor.

I stood by the large glass wall, that gave the silently beautiful view of the backyard of the east wing. There was a forest with tall trees behind the black boundary walls, as if secrets under the dark shadows of the trees. The garden had nothing much, except for bushes and potted plants.

The weather was cool here, making the vibes feel slightly eerie and calmer than usual.

Maybe it's because I'm new here.

Seconds rolled into minutes, as time stretched but I stood still, as if enchanted by the calmness behind the glass wall.

Everywhere was just silence.

Maids and servants moved like robots under command, except for blinking to be recognised as humans. Their clothes were black, with aprons marron for women and pants for men.

I breathed deep, feeling the air inside the room suddenly losing its wamrness, crawling up my bare arms, slipping inside my soul with a slight shiver.

And I felt it, I felt that stare on me, from somewhere I didn't know.

I knew I was alone, yet, I wasn't alone anymore.
